Humanity

I tried borrowing a heart from anyone with a lending ear.

It turns out, most people only listen for something in return.

Their attention has a limit.

My intentions were genuine, their’s were for their own gain.

I was blinded by my good will and humility.

Not everyone is as joyful as they seem – some want to suck you dry of yours to maintain their’s.

Not everyone wants to be your company – some just want entertainment from your stories.

I’ve learned to be transparent, to be me in every circumstance.

I’ve been praying hard to avoid sacrificing my sanity.

We need to be kind but only keep a close knitted bond with just a few – everyone needs some type of moral support eventually.
